Loch Fyne Argyll Holidays

You can't visit Argyll without sampling some local seafood  and where better to start than Loch Fyne, providers of the finest oysters in the world. The company started with the simple idea of growing oysters in the clear, fertile waters of Loch Fyne to the highest possible quality, as well as fully abiding by local environmental standards. As a company, they are passionate about sustainability, provenance and quality seafood. With their restaurants now internationally renowned, do not miss this unique opportunity during your visit to Argyll Holidays to see where it all began.

The original Oyster Bar and shop started in a small shed in Loch Fyne in the early 80’s, moving in 1988 to the old cow byre at Clachan Farm. The company is now based in old farm buildings at Clachan, Carindow, at the head of Loch Fyne. The first Loch Fyne Oyster Bar away from the loch opened in Nottingham in 1990, followed by a second near Peterborough. It was not until 1998 that the Loch Fyne Restaurant chain was founded, today holding 46 restaurants across the UK, worth nearly over £70 million. Its reputation has now spread across the world, with products sold in Hong Kong to Cape Town. Loch Fyne however, will always be its home and the best place to sample such delights.

The Loch Fyne Shop has been running alongside the Oyster Bar since 1988. It stocks a wide selection of produce including bakery, chutneys, sauces, jams, wines and beers as well as seafood, meat and game.
The Loch Fyne events team also tour the country during the summer months, serving up delicious seafood to festival goers and visitors to some of the biggest events on the calendar including the Royal Highland Show, Burghley Horse Trials, T in the Park and Latitude Festival.

The company is a founding member of Food from Argyll, which has been hugely successful at bringing businesses together by sharing skills and resources to deliver high quality products throughout the local area. The company are immensely passionate about local charity and community work, with recent years seeing several fundraising events in schools, arts organisations and communities, fundraising for Macmillan Cancer and local hospices. Projects have included, Comunn Birlinn, a project with local schools building Birlinn boats, CHAS, a Childrens Hospice scheme based in West of Scotland and Dochas Fund, a local charity raising funds for research into Guillain Barre Syndrome and Motor Neurone Disease.
