Our AWESOME Hunters Quay Break

We are just back from our third Argyll Holidays break at Hunters Quay Holiday Village in Dunoon where we all had a great time. This break was different from our first two because there are activities and leisure facilities within the park which was nice.

On arrival we were allocated a lovely lodge which was nicely decorated and had everything we would need and was nice and cosy.

We had a walk around the park and a nice chilled evening together.

We had an early morning swim on the Saturday morning and were really impressed with the size of the pool, and the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.  Steven and I took turns each while the other stayed with the kids in the pool,  It was bliss.

We were then off for a trip to the nearby Benmore Botanic Gardens where we were given a guided tour.  The garden goes up a large hill, there are different structures, viewpoints and lookouts, a pond, an impressive restored Victorian fernery and lots of redwood trees, monkey puzzle trees and rhododendrons.  The scenery all around was beautiful, with something to look at everywhere.  It was a bit of a tiring trek to the top, but worth it for the views and so enjoyable and relaxing.

Our tour guide was really knowledgeable and told us lots of interesting facts about the garden, the history of it and about the plants.  We intend to return in the summer when more of the plants will be in full bloom and it will look even more colourful and impressive.  We were also lucky enough to spot some red squirrels and some deer.  On our return back to the bottom, we had lovely coffees, drinks and cakes in the cafe. The staff in the ticket office and cafe were lovely and really helpful.

Our Sunday morning started again with an early morning swim as we had enjoyed it so much the day before.  Then we all went to do the archery activity.  It was really good fun, with a safety briefing and instructions first, followed by target practice before taking part in a few fun competitions.  The session lasted around an hour and a half and we all really enjoyed it.  The instructor, Aiden was great.

We then had an hour or so until our next activity, so we headed into Hunters Bar and Grill for a delicious lunch.  The service was really good and we were served quickly even although it was quite busy.  I particularly enjoyed the Sunday carvery which was fab, Steven and Demi both opted for the Hunters wrap and Jamie was happy to colour in Rusty and Rosie.

The kids then did their WaterWalkerz activity, which looked great fun, and gave Steven an I a great laugh watching them.  Jamie managed this far better than big sister Demi.

Afterwards, Jamie had great fun in the adventure play park, the soft play within the entertainment area, played in the arcade area and was thrilled to meet Rusty and Rosie.

On Sunday evening, we went to the bingo, then enjoyed a few cocktails watching the Greatest Showman show.  The singer was absolutely fantastic and the dancing was superb.  Demi being a dancer and a big fan of the Greatest Showman particularly loved this show.  We really had a fab time.

We were sad to leave after another fantastic weekend with Argyll Holidays but happy to know that we will be returning for more fun to this park in August and are really looking forward to it.

The Monday morning was such a calm and peaceful day that the Holy Loch looked perfectly still like glass and we enjoyed the drive home through all of the spectacular scenery.  We can’t wait for our next Argyll adventure.
