Islay is part of the southern Hebrides and is also called Queen of the Hebrides. Islay is home to nine whisky distilleries is best known for its peaty, smoky whiskies. Taste of Italy
Situated in Bowmore on the seafront, the popular Italian restaurant, Peatzeria offers indoor and outdoor dining on the beautiful Isle of Islay.
Visit a distillery
The smoky, peaty, quality of Islay whisky is unique, recognizable even to the untutored palate, and most of the island’s distilleries offer fascinating guided tours, ending with the customary complimentary dram.
Bowmore is the most touristy of the distilleries and by far the most central. Daily guided tours are available.
Ardbeg is traditionally considered the saltiest, peatiest malt on Islay. The distillery has an abundance of character and offers guided tours regularly
Bruichladdich is located on the most southern western tip of Islay where they distil four unique spirits. As of 1st April the distillery will be open seven days a week offering a variety of tours and experiences.

Ardnave Point and Ardnave Beaches
Ardnave Point and its many fine beaches are some of the most beautiful part of Islay. Here you have everything, a magnificent walk, stunning beaches, amazing wildlife, breathtaking views of some of the Inner Hebridean Islands and beautiful dunes.

The annual week long festival is the highlight for the whisky connoisseurs and many island lovers.

Birdwatching is a popular activity for visitors. Islay boasts a vast variety of incredible scenery and habitats. These offer over one hundred species all year round such as Sea Eagle and migrating whooper swans.
