Gig in the Goil - The Festival Essentials
Gig in the Goil - The Festival Essentials
Argyll Holidays' boutique music festival - Gig in the Goil - returns to Drimsynie Estate this weekend, so we've compiled a festival essentials blog with everything you need to know.
1 – Location Location – Where is Gig in the Goil?
Gig in the Goil is held in the small picturesque village of Lochgoilhead, within Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park, and just 6 miles from the A83 Rest & be Thankful. Overlooking the stunning Loch Goil, the location is most famous for appearing in James Bond film “With Russia with Love”.
All three venues are inside Drimsynie Estate Hotel complex, meaning you won’t miss any of your favourite acts. The ‘Main Stage’, in the Entertainment Hall will welcome former runrig frontman Donnie Munro, popular festival band Mànran and award-winning Trail West amongst others. Located in the new section of the hotel, the ‘Showcase Stage’ will showcase a rich variety of upcoming acts, including Vistas, Shambolics & Foreignfox, whilst the cosy Fireside Bar will host our ‘Acoustic Lounge’, with the best solo artists from around Scotland performing in an intimate setting. In addition, there will be an outdoor terrace with additional bars and catering options, for you to enjoy a beverage in the West Coast sun.
2 – Packing – What do I need to bring?
Cash – Although we have credit card facilities (and a chargeable cash machine) onsite, we urge you bring cash, as it’ll enable you to get served faster, and some of our pop up bars won’t have the option to pay by credit card.
Midgé Repellent – Ahh the famous west coast Midgé. Being in May, we’re not expecting many of them, but it’s always handy to bring midge spray – we recommend Smidge.
Sun Cream – The weather forecast is looking good for the weekend, and although each of the venues are indoors, we have terrace areas and plenty of outdoor attractions available across the weekend.
Mobile Phone – We’d love to see the festival through the eyes (or screens) of our attendees – so it would be great if you could share your experiences on social media. We’ll have our own Snapchat filters and free Wi-Fi, so there’s no excuse not to get involved – plus, everyone who shares their photos will enter the draw for a pair of tickets to Gig in the Goil 2020.
If you’re staying onsite (or locally) over the weekend, we also advise you bring a phone charger, a torch, as there isn’t a huge amount of street lighting, plus some warm clothes – although we’re expecting a sunny weekend, it can get a wee bit chilly in the evenings!
3 – Tickets & Wristbands – How does it work?
There will be a well-signposted wristband collection point located at Drimsynie Estate Reception, where you can exchange your ticket for a wristband, valid throughout the weekend.
If you purchased your tickets online, then you’ll have an e-ticket confirmation. Please show 2 of the following at the wristband exchange: E-ticket confirmation (printed copy or mobile screenshot), proof of ID or card used to purchase the tickets.
If you’re checking into accommodation and you ordered your tickets through our reservations team, your wristbands will be in the welcome envelope you receive when checking in.
Once your wristband is on, it automatically locks so you won’t be able to remove it unless you cut it. Please keep your wristband on to ensure access to all venues throughout the weekend – we cannot issue replacement wristbands.
4 – Parking – Bringing the car?
If you’re staying onsite over the weekend, we urge you to leave your car outside your accommodation, as there is designated parking, and it’s just a short walk to the festival complex.
We do have limited parking onsite though, and there is also parking available in Lochgoilhead village itself, just a 10-minute walk. We love to go green here at Argyll Holidays, so recommend car sharing where you can.
5 – Times – How do I find out when everything is happening?
We have now announced day splits and stage times on our Facebook here. You can also purchase an event guide (with all profits going to charity) & lanyard onsite which will give you all stage times throughout the weekend, plus more information on the artists & bands performing.
Doors open:
Friday: 5pm
Saturday: 12noon
Sunday: 12noon
6 – VIP – What do I get with my VIP ticket?
Brand new for 2019, our VIP Lounge is the perfect place to chill out over the weekend. With private bars & toilets, plus additional seating and exclusive acoustic sets across the three days, it’s a must visit (with a VIP wristband). A complimentary welcome drink will be served each day as well (served until 7pm Friday and 3pm Saturday & Sunday).
Enjoy your weekend!
