Enjoying a Socially Distanced break in Argyll

The world as we know it may be changing – but the beauty and splendour of Argyll remains uninterrupted. As we move forward with implementing changes to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our guests – we have taken the time to reflect on how best to navigate new changes. Enjoy this short guide on how to enjoy your socially distanced break away with Argyll Holidays!

  • Enhanced Cleaning Procedures
  • Wide Open Spaces
  • Book in Confidence

First and foremost, our guests can be rest assured that we are taking the safety of our visitors very seriously. We are adhering to the Hoseasons Safer Stays initiative and are Visit Scotland Good to Go certified, so you can be sure to book with us in confidence. Although some of our facilities are currently closed due to social distancing measures – we are working towards reopening all facilities as and when Government guidance defines it possible. For updates on reopening dates for our individual facilities (e.g. Swimming Pool, Spa, Rusty’s Funhouse), please visit our Safer Stays at Argyll Holidays page where regular updates are posted.

Not keen to cook during your stay? Our onsite restaurants, bars and takeaways are now open, with outdoor seating with new social distancing measures in place. Holidays are more fun without the washing up! Why not curb your appetite with a delicious onsite takeaway option from DC’s or Quay by the Sea? To be enjoyed wherever you like, or simply in the comfort of your own holiday home.

No extra precautions needed for a good old-fashioned stroll, why not enjoy the scenic surroundings of Argyll along one of the many available routes near our parks? There are routes for every terrain and ability level – each with stunning views of Argyll. The perfect way to explore the wide-open spaces at a safe distance, with some of the most breath-taking views.

Take a look at our guide for local walks to try during your stay with us at Hunters Quay, all starting and finishing in the holiday park, and ranging in duration from 30 minutes to two hours. For a little further afield, you can always check out some recommended routes from Forestry & Land Scotland.

If staying with us at Drimsynie Estate – we recommend a favourite of ours, the Drimsynie Circular Walk! The route starts outside Drimsynie Estate Hotel and is well signposted, taking you on an elevated route to Corrow Farm. It’s enjoyable in all weathers and takes you past the famous ‘Fairy Pools’. Another local gem is the Dukes Pass Circular, which starts in Lochgoilhead village and takes about 3-4 hours to complete – so don’t forget your water bottle and lunch! If you are looking for a shorter stroll then the Cormonachan Woodlands, (situated only a 5 minute drive from Drimsynie Estate) is a thriving community project, with a series of different routes circling around the ancient woodland. Perfect for taking the kids to visit local wildlife!

A full list of our favourite routes can be found on our ‘Walking in Argyll’ article.

Family Hike

Are you a keen cyclist? Then we have something for you too! Argyll is home to cycling tracks of every terrain and level. Whether you prefer to explore near the water by road or tackle the mountain paths – we have a route for you to enjoy as you keep yourself safe in the wide open areas that surround all of our park locations. The Ardgarten Cycle Circuit is a fantastic route as it can be started at any point depending on how long you are looking to travel. Starting off from Lochgoilhead, after passing through the village you take the forestry road at the foot of Gleann Mor. The gradual climb out of the glen rises above the B828 main road and leads to the base of Ben Donich. The view from the top of the ‘Rest and be Thankful’ is a great reward for the exertion!

If a more relaxed day of exercise is what you had in mind - Drimsynie Estate is home to its very own 9-hole, scenic golf course! This great little course spans 3604 yards, is a Par 62 and is open all year round. From the 3rd of July the course will be open to holiday makers to enjoy – safe, and in gorgeous surroundings just meters from the shores of Loch Goil.
