A Day in the Life of Scott, Park Manager at Loch Lomond
A Day in the Life of Scott, Park Manager at Loch Lomond
We sat down, had a cuppa and caught up with team member Scott, to find out about his dynamic role as Park Manager at Loch Lomond Holiday Park.
How long have you been part of the Argyll Holidays team?
I joined the Argyll Holidays family in March 2020, I had previously been on holiday to one of the other Argyll Holidays parks and knew how high the standards were in terms of customer care and presentation of the holiday parks which were my main reasons for joining the team.
An interesting fact about me is that I also grew up in the Argyll area and my parents worked on Loch Lomond Holiday Park in 2001 for a few years, which gave me an advantage of local knowledge of walks and activities that families can enjoy when spending their precious time with us. It was interesting to come back after all these years and be recognized by guests and owners still coming to the park after all these years but instead of being a young lad causing trouble, I was having to put a stop to it, well sometimes.
A typical day in your role
One of the great things about working on a holiday park is no two days are the same, there are always fresh challenges to keep you on your toes. The busy changeover days are always my favorite, seeing our lovely guests leave with a smile on their face after their relaxing break and getting the park and lodges ready for some new families to enjoy this beautiful part of the world. It is always good after a busy summer’s day to get out on the water to do some water sports or go for a swim to cool off.
The pandemic has changed a typical day for me and brought on some new challenges. Prior to opening, Argyll Holidays enrolled in Hoseasons’ ‘Safer Stays’ initiative and Visit Scotland’s ‘Good to Go’ scheme which provides us with clear guidance on our main priorities, keeping our staff safe and allowing us to continue giving our guests a fantastic experience while also having the peace of mind they are as safe as possible.
What do you love most about your role?
There are many fantastic benefits of working in the Argyll Holidays’ team. I’m able to pick up the phone anytime to a colleague on another park in our group. I feel there is always someone willing to help me or give advice. There are also many awards and incentives offered to employees to encourage ambition & growth. And of course, not forgetting the location. Argyll is a beautiful area with lots to do so my days off are usually spent exploring what is on my doorstep.
What Argyll Holidays moment will you always remember?
There are many moments that I will always remember. The Prestige Hampton Lodge arriving on park and being strapped and lifted on its pitch by crane. Some of our owner’s events which include wakeboarding, off-road Segway experience, or a tasty BBQ in the sunshine down by the loch. My favourite moment has to be winning Park of the Year 2020 at our annual Achiever’s awards. It is great for myself and my team to work for a company that recognises our hard work.
