Proposing this Christmas?
With the magical festive season on our doorstep, and Christmas being a popular time for marriage proposals, we thought we’d let you know our top tips for popping the question in Argyll
- Popping the question this Christmas?
- There's nowhere more perfect than Argyll
- Here are some ideas for you
1) Up a Mountain
There are twenty Munro’s throughout Argyll, the majority presenting incredible panoramic views from the summit; so, whether you’re gazing out over Loch Awe from the top of Ben Cruachan, or admiring the rugged landscape from Ben Oss, it’s simply perfect.
If you don’t fancy something quite as challenging, then no shortage of hills and Corbetts in the area, all with a rewarding backdrop for the big question.
2) Beside a Loch
When it comes to lochs (or lakes as they are known down South), we are spoiled for choice. Not only do we have the ‘Bonnie banks’ of the famous Loch Lomond (we bet you’re humming that song now!), but there’s plenty of tranquil spots alongside Loch Goil, Loch Eck & Loch Fyne, which make for the perfect proposal location.
What’s more, there’s always an opportunity to celebrate with a drink in a local village pub, in front of the fire – bliss!
3) In the Sky
Argyll looks stunning from above, so why not combine the proposal as you sweep your loved one off their feet (quite literally)? There are different ways to get up into the Argyll skyline, but the Loch Lomond Sea Plane offers an opportunity to admire the breath-taking landscape, and pop the question from the luxury of a private surrounding.
You’ll be on cloud nine.
4) By a Castle
There are a host of castles throughout the area, from ancient ruins, to glorious buildings restored to their former glory. Visit Inveraray Castle (pictured), take a trip to Duart Castle on the Isle of Mull, or admire the dramatic landscape from Dunans Castle in Glendaruel (where you can even become a Lord or Lady!), just a few miles from Strachur.
It really is magical.
5) On a Boat
Wrap up warm, and set sail on Loch Lomond, often regarded as the most romantic of the lochs (although we can’t be seen to favouritise). Gaze out onto the glistening waters and the rugged glens in some of the most magical surroundings. Our friends at Cruise Loch Lomond run cruises throughout the year, and will go out their way to ensure that everything goes just fine.
Just don’t drop the ring.
6) In a Hot Tub, Under the Stars
Imagine sitting in your own private hot tub, with snow on the mountains* and a luxurious lodge waiting for when you get out. A hot tub lodge is the ideal way to unwind, and on a clear night it makes for the perfect opportunity to sit back, watch the stars, and pop the question.
We can even supply the champagne for when she says yes.
(*we can’t guarantee the snow)
