Or at least that’s what we image The Wales Family’s checklist looked like. When schools broke up for summer, this fun-loving family of five headed straight for Hunters Quay to enjoy a very sunny start to the summer!
Parents Allen and Karen chose to take kids Connor (9), Grace (4) and Harris (3) to Hunters Quay because it had everything that they were looking for in a family holiday. With everything from swimming in the pool, playing football on the grass, learning a new skill with Go Active or boogying the night away with our Stargyll Entertainment team, they had their bases covered when it came to keeping the wee ones entertained!
‘Our lodge was lovely and spacious for the 5 of us, with a great big balcony and beautiful views over the water,’ said mum Karen, reflecting on their stay in our Beech Comfort Plus. Beech Comfort Plus Lodges are located exclusively at Hunters Quay, and are a great base for families during their stay. Boasting an open plan living space and three bedrooms (a double and two twins), Beech lodges are perfect for families looking to spend some quality time together.
But what the Wales family was really there for was the activities… and they were impressed in the range of activities for older and younger kids. With everything from climbing walls, archery, sea scooters and crazy carts – they were spoiled for choice! Connor seemed to enjoy some of the more challenging Go Active activities, but we’re not sure he enjoyed the friendly competition as much…
‘Connor took part in snorkelling and the water scooters, which he loved! It was a good amount of time for this activity and not too rushed. He also loved the archery; he has taken part in competitions for archery in school so was not pleased that the little friend he met bet him!’
But don’t worry, wee ones Grace and Harris were kept busy too! Hunters Quay’s Go Active team have everything for kids of all ages, including Science Kids, Squirrel Squad Heroes, Pirates Paradise and Nature Collage!
‘Grace and Harris had great fun at Nature Collage where they had to collect together branches, flowers etc then make a big collage with it all. They also took part in [Squirrel Squad Heroes] which was a firm favourite, Grace naming herself 'Belle the Superhero' with her superpower being able to fly. They had capes on and went on secret missions around the complex, big smiles all round afterwards.’
Karen was also very complimentary of some of our staff, mentioning specifically how our team looked after her and the kids.
‘I would just like to make a special mention to Aidan [Go Active Instructor] who was amazing with all the children through all the activities and really explained things well and got everyone involved. Even remembering all their names! Connor loved him and said he was so friendly.’
The Wales Family also took full advantage of our Stargyll Entertainment, which was on every night during their stay. Stargyll offers a variety of acts including themed nights, production shows, tribute evenings and activities, as well as family entertainment with the Squirrel Squad (Rusty and Rosie).
‘We went to the kids club most nights which we enjoyed. Grace and Harris love all the games and dancing too. Entertainers were also great here, so enthusiastic and great with the kids. We played kids bingo, which was very competitive!’
Reflecting on their adventurous break with Argyll Holidays, the Wales family had nothing but good things to say.
‘Overall, we had a great break at Hunters Quay, the kids loved all the activities they took part in and all the exploring of the holiday park too, it just wasn't long enough! Hopefully next time we come back the weather will be just as good and we'll be able to have another water balloon fight with ice lollies after!’
