What is Gig in the Goil?
Gig in the Goil is a boutique music festival which will return to Drimsynie Estate from 17th to 19th May 2019. The festival will showcase a rich variety of live music & entertainment over 3 indoor stages, as well as food and drink (including local produce). In addition, there will be activities, stalls & attractions, licensed bars and a dedicated VIP lounge.
We will be naming a charity partner in due course, with all money from the sales of our festival programme going to this charity.
TICKETS & ADMISSION
How can I purchase a ticket?
Tickets can be purchased online through our official ticketing agencies TicketWeb (www.ticketweb.co.uk) & Skiddle (www.skiddle.co.uk) from 9am on Friday 30th November. Physical tickets can also be purchased from Ticket Scotland (Glasgow & Edinburgh) and Drimsynie Estate Reception.
How much are tickets?
‘Early-bird’ weekend tickets guarantee the best price, and will be available until the end of February, priced £32.50 for adults, £30 for students, £52.50 for VIP & £12.50 for youth (age 10-17). Under 10’s go free.
What’s included in a VIP ticket?
VIP tickets include VIP Wristband and complimentary programme, plus access to exclusive VIP lounge with private bar & toilets. Welcome drinks served on Friday evening. VIP tickets are only available for adults aged 18 and over.
What if I’m a holiday home owner or local resident?
We are offering holiday home owners & local residents (Lochgoilhead & Carrick) the opportunity to purchase tickets at a discounted loyalty rate. To redeem this discount, use promo code Lochg19 on the Skiddle website. Proof of address may be required upon festival entry.
Is there a discount if I’m staying onsite?
If you’re staying in an Argyll Holidays holiday home during GITG, then you will also be offered a discounted rate for tickets. These can be added on at the time of booking your holiday, or by calling 0345 459 9772.
I’ve lost my ticket, what do I do?
If you’ve purchased your ticket online through Skiddle, then chances are you will have received an e-ticket. If you email firstname.lastname@example.org they will be able to reissue your ticket. Unfortunately we cannot replace hard tickets issued in person through our ticket outlets.
Where do I get my wristband?
There will be a wristband collection point at the entrance to the festival, where you can exchange your ticket for a wristband, valid throughout the weekend.
What can I take into the event?
Only food and drink purchased at the event will be allowed to be consumed in the festival site, and there will be searches in place at the entrance. Due to security restrictions, bags larger than A4 will not be permitted within the site.
Can I get a ticket refund?
It is not our policy to issue refunds on tickets, unless the event is cancelled or postponed. In the event you can’t make the festival, we recommend you sell your ticket on for face value through Gumtree (www.gumtree.co.uk) or social media channels. Tickets purchased through third-parties are done so at your own risk.
What is your policy on under 18s?
As we’re a family-friendly festival, under 18’s are welcome along, if accompanied by a responsible adult over 18. One adult can be responsible for up to four children under 18.
Can I re-enter the festival site?
Yes, you will be issued with a wristband on arrival, so as long as you keep this on, you will be allowed to exit and re-enter festival site throughout the weekend.
Can you pay on the door?
If there are tickets left then we will allow them to be purchased over the weekend, but we urge you to purchase tickets in advance to guarantee entry, and to secure the best price.
Is the site suitable for wheelchairs and buggies?
The three venues are flat, offering wheelchair and buggy access. Unfortunately, the VIP lounge is in the old part of the hotel and requires climbing stairs. Disabled tickets will be charged at the standard adult price, with one carer admitted free of charge. Kids under 10 go free.
Will day tickets available?
Day tickets may become available nearer to the date, however there won’t a huge difference in price, as we’ve kept weekend tickets as low as possible, to ensure the fairest entry price – so we’d encourage you to make the most of the full weekend.
Can I purchase a student ticket?
Yes, we offer discounted student tickets – Please remember to bring your student card to redeem your wristband.
LOCATION & TRANSPORT
Where is ‘Gig in the Goil’ being held?
Gig in the Goil is held in and around Drimsynie Estate Hotel, in the stunning village of Lochgoilhead. All three venues are indoors and mud-free, although there are bars, activities and food outlets outside.
Where is Lochgoilhead?
Lochgoilhead is a small picturesque village, located within Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park, 6 miles off the A83 Rest & be Thankful, and just over an hour from Glasgow. Overlooking the stunning Loch Goil, the location is most famous for appearing in James Bond film “With Russia with Love”.
What’s public transport like?
A daily bus service operates from Helensburgh to Lochgoilhead (except Sundays), timetable is available here: https://bustimes.org/services/302-carrick-castle-helensburgh.
Alternatively, Lochgoilhead is 13 miles from Arrochar & Tarbet Railway Station (with trains from Glasgow Queen Street), and 6 miles from the Rest & be Thankful, where buses between Glasgow & Oban or Campbeltown often stop – please check with your driver before boarding. There is a local taxi company that picks up from both locations – call 07876 235657.
Is there car parking?
Although there will be car parking, it will be very limited. We urge you (where possible) to car share, use our return coaches, or book accommodation - which includes car parking. There is a strict 10mph speed limit onsite for the safety of everyone.
Is there mobile phone coverage?
There is good service on the EE & Vodafone networks, but please note that signal might vary due to the location, and the volume of attendees over the weekend.
What else is there in Lochgoilhead?
Lochgoilhead has a small licensed Costcutter, Post Office, Bowling Green, Doctor Surgery, Primary School, Village Hall & Church. There are also a wide array of local walks and outdoor places of interest, with the area incredibly rich in wildlife.
Can I stay for the weekend?
Argyll Holidays has a wide range of accommodation available over the weekend from brand new hotel rooms and cottages, to luxury caravans and deluxe hot tub lodges, all within walking distance of the festival: www.argyllholidays.com/special-offers/goil. There are also several local guesthouses. We do not offer camping facilities at Gig in the Goil.
Do you take touring caravans?
Unfortunately, we do not have provisions for touring caravans, but there are various sites within a short drive which do. The closest is Loch Lomond Holiday Park: https://www.argyllholidays.com/parks/loch-lomond-holiday-park
What are the timings?
The festival opens at 5pm on the Friday, and 12noon Saturday & Sunday, with live music starting shortly after. It will close at 1am on Friday & Saturday night, and midnight on Sunday.
Who is performing at Gig in the Goil?
We have a diverse line-up booked for the festival, with a variety of bands and acoustic acts performing over three venues. The full line-up will be announced in due course.
What attractions/ stalls/ food & drink will there be?
We will announce all our offerings on our website/ social media in due course.
I want to book a pitch/ trade at the event – Can I?
There will be a limited number of indoor pitches for traders at Gig in the Goil 2019. Please note that we won’t be accepting applications from food & drink stands. Email email@example.com to signal your interest.
Can my band play Gig in the Goil?
Our line-up is almost complete for this year, but if you email firstname.lastname@example.org then we’ll keep you in mind for any opportunities. Once again, we will be looking for an upcoming artist or band to open the festival. Are there bars onsite? Do I need ID?
We have a number of licensed bars onsite, and as a result we operate a challenge 25 policy. If you’re lucky enough to look under 25 then please expect to show ID when purchasing alcohol. ID can be in the form of a passport, driving license, or other ID which includes the ‘PASS’ logo.
