Argyll Holidays is a well established family business which is owned and managed by the second generation of the Campbell family, with two of the third generation now employed full time. It is great to have every family member involved, working well together to provide a unique holiday destination in the west coast of Scotland.
It all started with Douglas & Jean Campbell in their farmhouse deciding to diversify into tourism with six caravans which were let out on a piece of ground at Lochgoilhead. From these small beginnings in 1968, the caravan park grew into the Drimsynie Estate Holiday Village, with all the facilities which you can enjoy today.
Their three sons Keith, Allan & Roy, all joined the business on leaving school and helped develop the holiday parks which make up Argyll Holidays. Each of their wives, Irene, Susan & Liz work behind the scenes and now the two eldest grandchildren, Andrew & Fiona have joined the team.
As opportunities arose within the county of Argyll, the number of holiday parks grew to 7 locations, giving customers a real choice. Having established their own construction business, local tradesmen were involved in developing each area and continue to maintain and upgrade all the facilities.
Despite early diversification, farming still plays an important role amongst the family and they have enjoyed great success breeding pedigree sheep. Argyll Holidays Head Office is situated on the family farm at Lochgoilhead, where it all began.
At present the family is involved in Holiday Parks, Hotels, Retail outlets and Construction. They now have a team of approximately 240 people working alongside them. The Campbell’s all feel very passionate about the business and will continue to invest in it for years to come.
